1BinungeyBinungey is probably the most popular ďkakaninĒ in Bolinao. Kakanin is usually something made of sticky rice. Binungey is also called bamboo cake. But of course itís nothing like the cake we know. It has a sticky texture and thereís a hint of bamboo flavor that goes with it. Itís served inside bamboo with banana leaf covering it. Itís best eaten with sugar.
2Unicorn Fish or SungayanThe bluetail unicorn fish, Nasocaeruleacauda, is a tropical fish found in coral reefs around Indonesia and the Philippines. It was first named by J.E. Randall in 1994, and is also sometimes called the blue unicorn. Eating fresh seafoods from saltwater and freshwater fish to deep water shellfish, seafood is a beloved delicacy. Seafood is nutrient-rich, serves as a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals and is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and in the reduction of common diseases. So as you embark on yet another crawfish boil or fish fry, know that the seafood youíre consuming will yield many benefitswhile cruising one of the cleanest river in the Philippines, the Balingasay river. It's more fun in Sungayan, it's more fun in BOLINAO.
